Power Mounts™

FWT’s proprietary PowerMount™ has been hailed as one of the most revolutionary products for quickly and economically developing a communications network footprint. To date, hundreds of FWT PowerMounts have been installed on existing towers and monopoles throughout the U.S.
UTILIZES EXISTING TOWERS
The PowerMount™ is the best choice for supporting your antennas and lines when PowerArms attached to the ETT pose too much stress on the ETT. PowerMount allows you to install a sectored antenna array on an existing electrical transmission tower. The tubular PowerMount structure supports the compression load while providing a means to safely secure the coax, protect them from vandalism, provide shielding, and reduce the wind load on the ETT caused by the coax, especially when ice is considered. The PowerMount structure generally extends above the ETT although it can also be used to support antennas along the body of the ETT.
REDUCES ZONING PROBLEMS
When zoning approval is required, most PowerMount™ installations have been considered a modification to an existing structure. Sometimes, a special use permit is required. In some cases, the Power- Mount has been approved for installation on a city/jurisdiction-wide basis. To date, the PowerMount has not failed a zoning challenge, particularly when carriers point out the diminished visual impact relative to installing a new monopole or tower. PowerMount allows you to secure several geographically dispersed sites at one time by negotiating a system-wide lease with the relevant utilities. With the current deregulation of the electrical utility industry, many utilities are interested in the opportunity to leverage their networks to earn more revenue. In fact, some utilities will spare the carrier the capital cost by installing PowerMount sites and leasing them to the carrier.
QUICKLY INSTALLS
Most PowerMount™sites are completed in two days. This includes the time required to install a small precast foundation, the PowerMount, antennas, and lines. Most sites can be fully operational two to three days after construction begins, except for power and telco which are affected by local issues.
REDUCES OVERALL COSTS
You can earn thousands of dollars by completing a site weeks ahead of sites constructed by conventional means. PowerMount™also allows you to save thousands of dollars in site acquisition, zoning, permitting, and construction costs. The typical installed cost for a PowerMount is $30,000 to $35,000 for an 85' to 110' unit. Cost includes foundation, standard grounding, PowerMount™, installation of PowerMount, as well as antenna and line installation.
POWERARMS
PowerArms allow you to mount a sectored array on an existing transmission monopole. Because these poles are often located in residential areas, it enables the carrier to secure a site that might not otherwise be feasible. To ensure that galvanizing of the existing structure is not impaired, PowerArms band-on to the existing structure. Coaxial lines are then routed on the outside of the pole via FWT’s waveguide ladder — a band-on ladder for attaching coaxial lines. While traditional telecommunications monopoles route the coaxial lines through the center of the pole, existing structures frequently have obstructions in the center, are too small to accommodate all of the lines, or the utility does not want the structure to be burned or cut.
